Oba News Research Center was created in October of 1995. We believe that history can be used to enhcance the reading and writing skills of low income students. We incorporate technology into all of our programs being one of the first organizations to have a computer center in the , Detroit Michigan area.
We beleive that the knowledge that young people obtain by writing researching historical events and engaging in oral history projects for seniors help them produce better grades in school. We were one of the first nonprofits to have a technology center in the city of Detroit using youth tech trainers our goal is to produce inner city tech geeks. In 1997 we trained 8th grader students to write programs in the basic language.
